Why Launch Now?

Updated: Dec 2, 2021

I have been thinking about launching a business blog for quite some time now. The thought of helping others achieve their small business goals has always excited me and seemed like something that would bring me joy. However, like so many others, I never took the plunge because I was scared of failure. So, I didn't do anything. I thought about how exciting it would be to help entrepreneurs build all sorts of businesses but I never acted. As I have progressed through my career and my MBA program I gained confidence and valuable skills but was still scared of failure. What if I launched the blog but nobody wanted to listen? What if all the niches are full and I have no unique insight or content to share? Worst of all, what if someone believed in me, took a chance, but I fell short of their expectations.

All of that has changed recently. The world is facing levels of uncertainty that have not been seen in generations. There is a lot of fear due to the SARS-CoV-2 virus which unleashed a swift wave of illness and economic destruction that seemed unfathomable only a few short months ago. Many people, myself included, are anxious about what new world awaits us on the other side of this crisis. In this time, one marked by fear and uncertainty, I have realized that maybe I can help. That I have a few skills and experiences that can help people grow their businesses so they do not have to go it alone. When all is said and done, if I can help just one business better position itself to survive and then thrive I will consider this a success. It is important to me that, especially in this time of uncertainty, I am there to help others through the founding of this blog.

That is why now is the time for me to begin. There is no time to waste and I have already waited far too long to start helping others build their businesses and develop meaningful relationships with likeminded people. Everyone can use a helping hand so why not jump in and help however I can. I am making a commitment to focus on helping small businesses be their best selves while thinking of the environment. Whether that means market positioning to grow quickly or building operational efficiencies to allow for more time with the family and greater profits my goal will always be to help small businesses. This includes even just being a listening ear or sounding board to talk about their new ideas.

A major reason for this post is to preserve my thoughts and feelings for why I started this blog in the first place. My hope is that many years from now I will be able to look back on this article and think about all the people we have helped and engaged with. My hope is that this will serve as inspiration for the next person looking to start or grow a business, realizing that they can do this. I do not expect this to be easy, but I do expect to learn a lot. I expect to help a lot of entrepreneurs grow their business so they may provide for their families and foster prosperity in their communities. I expect that things will get better in the world and that it is small business owners like you who will make it a better place.
